Is your little fur ball still eliminating all over your floor? Are the cleaning bills for your carpet costing more than the carpet itself? Here are a few puppy potty training tips that actually work.

First of all, get inside your puppy’s head. Dogs do not like to eliminate in their eating and sleeping area. This little fact makes crate training your little fur ball one of the best puppy potty training tips. When crate training, make sure your pooch loves the crate. Do not lock it in there for 2 hours without giving your doggy a chance to get used to it. The right size for a crate is if your dog can lie down and stand up in it. If it is too big, your pooch might decide to eliminate in the far corner of the crate.

The second of my puppy potty training tips is to praise your dog for good behaviour, rather than punish it for “bad” behaviour. When your dog eliminates where you want it to, this could be outside or on a dog potty, praise it with abundance. Use a very high pitched voice, ignore anyone looking at you like your crazy, and your pooch will be super excited and happy. You could also pet it, play with it or give it a favourite toy. Whichever works best for your doggy.

Another of my favourite puppy potty training tips is to choose one spot outside where your little fur ball should eliminate. Return to this spot every single time your pup needs to eliminate and do not move away until it actually has eliminated. Even when there is a snow blizzard outside.

And last but not least, take away the water bowl about two hours before bed time (unless it is extremely warm where you live). If you then let him eliminate right before you go to bed, you should be able to sleep about 5 to 6 hours before he will need to relieve itself again.
Read more about this and other topics related to joomla themes
