Macroon Cookie Recipes
May 14th, 2011 by admin

These macroon cookie recipes are delicious. Just check these out and I’m sure you’ll be amazingly surprised.

So here we go for some macroon cookie recipes:

>>Sliced Almond Cookie

1 c sliced almonds chocolate bits; for topping

1 egg whites

1/3 c sugar

Preheat the oven to 300. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Stir together the egg white and sugar (I don’t even use a mixer) and then stir in the almonds. Drop by teaspoon (they shouldn’t be more than
2 inches in diameter) and top with a chocolate chip. Bake about 20 minutes until lightly browned. When you remove from the oven mash down the chocolate bit (it makes it look like a dab of icing) and let it cool before removing from sheet.

I use the same ingredients in the food processor and make balls out of the dough just over an inch in diameter. I flatten them slightly by pushing down drained maraschino cherry on top. I usually do double the recipe. I make these all year because they’re so simple to make, everybody loves them and they are good for pesach.

>>Chewy Role Cookie Bar

1 pk yellow cake mix

1/2 c nuts, chopped

1/4 c butter, melted

2/3 c evaporated milk

36 role candy pieces, halved

Combine cake and nut meats in a medium bowl. Stir in evaporated milk and melted butter or margarine. Blend well. Spread half of cake mixture into a greased 9×13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove from oven.

Immediately place role pieces, cut side down, over hot crust. Drop remaining cake mixture by teaspoonfuls over role pieces. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Cut in squares.

That’s it for today! If you want more macroon cookie recipes just check below:

Baby Shower Thank You Notes – You Deserve Help, Future Mom
May 11th, 2011 by admin

Writing baby shower thank you notes seems simple. However, with a million things to do as an expectant mother, the biggest challenge is finding the time. The sheer labor (pardon the pun) of mailing and writing all of your baby shower thank you notes can be overwhelming.

Ideally, everybody would get a handwritten thank you for their baby gift. However, if you just don’t have the time to write everyone, there is a loophole. Formal etiquette for gift thank you notes is that a card is not required in cases where the giver was present for the opening of the gift and received a thank you in person.

Use this as a polite dividing line if you are short on time.

You need help. Delegate. When somebody asks you, “Is there anything I can do?” You say, “Yes.” If no one has specifically offered to help, ask. Everybody wants to help out the most important person in the word–and that’s YOU expectant Mom. Assemble a team of your biggest fans.

If one task is too much, then delegate that task to a couple of people. You can have friends or family members help you by doing part of or all of the following:

1) If you don’t have them already, get someone on Team Mom to pick out and purchase the baby shower thank you notes or some cute stationary sets.

2) You’ll need stamps. Send someone to get them or have the post office deliver them to you.

3) Put the stamps on the envelopes. Heck, if the person who drops off the stamps, comes in for coffee. Ta-dah! You have a perfect coffee-time task.

4) Assemble a list of current addresses via group E-mail or calling people over the phone.

5) Address the baby shower thank you card envelopes. Once again, if you get somebody else to do number four for you or with you, there’s a shot that when the person comes over to give you the list you can do the coffee thing again and have her help you.

6) Bonus delegation task–Put DAD be in charge of writing the thank you notes, and the two of you sign them. Convenient explanations: My knuckles are sore and swollen. He wants to be an active Daddy.

You can finish your baby shower thank you cards without setting aside an entire afternoon or day. What Mom or Mom-to-Be has that much free time? Use these simple steps:

1) Address and stamp all the envelopes in advance. (See above)

2) Write on the flip-side of the gift tag for each present a nice comment about the gift. Alternatively, if you threw away all the tags, you can just put a note in each envelope saying who sent what and something nice about it. (Ex. Carol-stork diaper basket-cute sailor hat on stork) This insures you do not have to waste time looking up the correct spelling of the giver’s name or struggle to remember who gave you what.

3) Put the labeled gift tags or notes in corresponding envelopes.

4) Print out a thank you note template or sample note to base your cards on such as the ones found at http://www.my-thank-you-site.com/sample-thank-you-note-wording.html .

5) Carry a few envelopes and blank cards with you. When you are waiting at that next doctor’s appointment, fill out a few. Other good times to do this include, waiting for food at a restaurant, in between cycles of laundry, when you can’t sleep, and during commercials (instead of holding the fast forward button on the Tivo). The great thing about doing a few or just one at a time is that it keeps your handwriting neat.

6) Drop your finished cards in the nearest mailbox immediately. Do not wait to mail them from home all at once. Just put them in the mail. This way you will have to hurry up and finish the rest soon, and your stack will be smaller. You can delegate this task, but some people, have a tendency to “forget.” Make sure it is somebody reliable.

Letting Go of Perfection
May 10th, 2011 by admin

You know more than anyone how little time you have. Between your spouse, your kids, running errands, housework, working or volunteering, and the other gazillion little things that eat away the day, it’s impossible to get everything done. The To-Do List is in constant rotation, and it seems as soon as you cross something off something else gets added that’s just as important.

Busy moms have a lot to do, and a woman’s natural perfectionism is almost certain to kick into overdrive here. What does this mean? It means you’re constantly running, trying to do it all, which will eventually lead to a meltdown, or at the very least high blood pressure and heart palpitations. Assigning ‘High Priority’ status to everything is a major stressor, and the best way to nix this out of your life might be a bit shocking to some, but here it is.

Not everything has to get done.

Take a few minutes to digest this amazing concept. Mull it over. We’ll wait.

Ready for more? OK. Here’s the lowdown.

The fact is that you have limited time and limited energy. Everyone does. There is only so much you can do in a day, and trying to conquer a list of 25 things just isn’t going to happen. Learning to prioritize what’s really important and having the strength to let the rest go is a good way to live a life with less stress and more personal happiness.

Here’s a good example. Your friend Barb is on her feet 14 hours a day. She’s a stay at home ‘supermom’. Not only is her house spotless and her laundry constantly caught up, but she’s chair of the PTA and is responsible for organizing all the extra-curricular activities at your son’s school. You’re constantly marveling at how she does it all.

On the outside Barb seems as if she has it together, ticking along like a well-oiled machine, when in reality she’s completely miserable. She never has time to go cloud watching with her toddler because she has to get the floor cleaned and start the next load of laundry. She hasn’t spent any time on herself in years because she’s too busy organizing so many events. Barb is overdoing it and not only is she suffering, but her kids are too.

It’s easy to lose sight of what’s really important in life when so many little things crop up to eat away at our time. Yes, many of these things have to get done, and yes, some of them are quite important. But you have to decide what takes priority in your life and what can be left at the wayside. Life can get a lot more fun and interesting when you relax a little and let some spontaneity back into your day.

When you stop and think about it, perfectionism is pretty boring. Wouldn’t you rather your kids grow up remembering picnics and tea parties instead of how clean the house was and how all the errands got done? Again, yes, the house does need cleaned and the errands have to be run sometimes, but you don’t have to live in a constant ‘To-Do’ state. It’s important to realize that you can still achieve excellence in what you do without being a perfectionist.

Learn to go with the flow, and accept that fact that you’re not perfect. Accept the fact that not being perfect might be a lot more wonderful, and that it’s closer to the heart of what life is really about.

Why are Blogs so Popular, and Why do I Need One?
May 8th, 2011 by admin

Blogs have become almost as popular as websites. They have their own search engines, ad directories, and forums. Blogs have gained in popularity, and for good reasons.

First, Blogs work great in connection with your website. Your website is more on the business level, where your blog is more on a personal level. You can give thoughts on your current promotions or products, or comment on how you business is doing. Many people add what they are currently learning about, making their blog seem like a journey. Always put a link to your website on your blog and vice versa. This will allow customers to see both sides of you if they want to. Remember consumers want to know who they are buying from, and what is a better way to learn about a webmaster than through a blog. This gives them a sense of comfort. They will be less likely to think that you might be scamming them.

Another reason blogs have gained in popularity is-they are free! More and more people are using blogs to earn an income instead of paying for a website. You don’t need to pay for hosting or a domain names with a blog. You can put all your affiliate programs on your blog to earn an extra income. You can also ad Google Adsense to your blog which will give you an additional source to profit from. It is free, and there really is no reason not to do this. It is also very easy to make changes to your blog, and even an amateur computer user can maintain one. Just read the tutorial that is provided to you, and you will be on your way.

There are many non-business blogs as well. It is a perfect way for family and friends that may live far apart to keep in touch. It is a way to share your passions with others who may have the same passion. For instance, my daughter loves animals. She would probably want to link to other animal site blogs and have them link back to her. Finally, even your children are learning to create their own blogs. Not only is this a great project to help teach children about the Internet, but it also gives them a way to express themselves. Some even make a diary out of their blog. Just be sure to teach your children Internet safety. Never put personal information such as address, phone number, complete birth date, or social security number, on any site or blog. There are too many people who would use that information for the wrong reason. So be safe, and happy blogging!
Breastfeeding Cuts Arthritis Risk
May 5th, 2011 by admin

Here’s good news for breastfeeding moms. A study confirms that this healthy habit can reduce a woman’s risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis (RA) by as much as 50 percent. What’s more, the longer you breastfeed, the bigger the benefits.

This was revealed by Dr. Elizabeth Karlson of Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston who studied 121,700 women to determine the effects of hormonal factors in RA. RA is the most debilitating form of arthritis that affects more women than men. The exact cause of this inflammatory condition is unknown but some researchers believe hormones may be involved in the disease.

Untreated, RA causes the body’s own immune system to attack the tissue that lines the joints, causing pain, stiffness, and deformities. While there’s no cure for RA, the right treatment can help patients live long, productive lives.

“Female sex hormones have long been thought to play a role in RA, which is diagnosed in women up to four times as often as in men. RA often develops when hormone levels are changing, such as in the first few months after giving birth and around the time of menopause,” according to Salynn Boylers of WebMD Medical News.

Karlson’s subjects were part of the ongoing Nurses’ Health Study, a sweeping investigation of disease, health, and lifestyle since 1976. Using questionnaires, the team noted the subjects’ reproductive history, paying close attention to potential RA risk factors like age at menarche, age at first birth, history of breastfeeding, use of oral contraceptives, and regularity of menstrual cycles.

They also studied estrogen use in older women after menopause. From this group, researchers singled out 674 RA patients most of whom were middle-aged when they got the disease. They later found that the risk of RA was lower in those who breastfed their babies. The longer breastfeeding was practiced, the lower the risk of RA. No benefits were seen in those who breastfed for less than a year.

“Looking at total lifetime breastfeeding, regardless of number of children, women who had breastfed for between 13 and 23 months had a 20 percent reduction in the risk of RA compared with women who did not breastfeed. Women who had breastfed for at least 24 months – two full years out of their childbearing years – increased their risk reduction to 50 percent,” said Carla Sharetto in Daily News Central.

“The breastfeeding finding was something of a surprise because some studies have suggested that it increases risk. We don’t understand the mechanism behind this completely, but it does appear that there are hormonal changes associated with breastfeeding that are long-lasting,” Karlson explained.

If you are the past the age where breastfeeding is impossible and you already have RA, don’t fret. Many prescription drugs can help ease the pain of RA and reduce its crippling complications. Unfortunately, some of these expensive drugs have serious side effects that are worse than the disease itself. To be on the safe side, use Flexcerin, a non-prescription natural supplement that soothes aching joints, rebuilds and repairs damaged joints, and restores joint mobility and flexibility. Mrs.Ms.Miss?
May 4th, 2011 by admin

I have been married 2 1/2 years and am still called “Miss”. I have another year of college left. My husband assures me that once I get a few more years and we have a baby…and I attend the PTA meetings I’ll quickly become “Mrs”.

Was wondering when you started being called “Mrs” instead of “Miss” or if you’re called “Ms”. and how that works for you.

This question is just for fun! When did you notice a noticable transition? lol.
