Oh, the joys of having a baby. You find out that you’re pregnant and you’re glowing, you anticipate the birth of your child, you prepare everything that you think a newborn can possible need. Even when you’re not sure what to get, you buy books and magazines and think about the beautiful future you will have as a family.
The day is finally here and you give birth to a beautiful baby. As your newborn gets adjusted to their new environment you try to make the baby as comfortable as you can. Then your world turns upside down. For whatever reason you find yourself to be a single mother and now you have to raise a child all alone. You as a mom have to provide food, shelter and an education for your child so that means you have to go out and find a job in order to provide the basic needs of life.
If you’re fortunate you have a career that will provide free child care, if not then you have to pay for child care and your employer says that they understand that you have to attend to your child needs. However, they have a business to run and someone to answer to so when you do tell them that you have to leave work early because your child is sick they tend to look at you with a frown. I empathize with single moms.
I have a close friend who is a single mom of one and like I pointed out earlier for reasons which I won’t disclose she ended up a single mother. I admire her because in spite of the challenges she was able to complete college go on to medical school and become a successful doctor. Now her child have a role model and a parent who is capable of providing for her emotionally and financially. she could have blamed life for what happened to her however she took charge of her life and is better off for it.
For the single moms who are doing it all alone I admire you and give you a lot of credit because it is not an easy job raising a child on your own.
